Why has it been so long since I saw this?

    Must watch it again.

I’d quite like to watch the Lord of the Rings again, but it just seems too long to ever be convenient to watch….

    @ O’Flashearty

Was only talking about it with friends last weekend.

Absolutely cracking soundtrack. Barber’s Adagio plays as that scene on the cover is happening. Tracks of My Tears, Okie From Muskogee, Respect, Groovin’

    Great film.

Not seen this for yonks – really got a yearning to watch it again after seeing The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover again a couple of weeks ago, which was even better than I remember it being originally.

This never comes on the telly these days….

And this seems to be the rarest of the Ealing ghost stories:

But definitely one of the best.

And this, along with all of the above, was thrown away in the great VHS purge of 2012.
    Shame really.

The Long Good Friday, good shout. Brilliant ending and soundtrack. Haven’t seen it in years, must watch it again sometime. One I’ve not seen since I saw it at the flicks was Salvador with James Woods, was impressed at the time but not sure if its as good as I remember!

It’s the one decent film Oliver Stone ever made. 😀
God, I hate Platoon – genuinely one of the least enjoyable films I’ve ever seen.
S’all subjective though, isn’t it? There is no right or wrong.

    Apart from Aliens of course.
    Which is awful. 😀

I’ve gotta say – there are some awful films above. I’d forgotten all about those shitty Burt Reynolds films and now they’re fresh in my memory as if I’d watched them yesterday.

    Momento – I think I watched it recently…not sure.

Seeing as Richard Griffiths passed away today it would have to be Withnail and I but certainly not with the Mrs.

I watched it a couple of days ago, brilliant, loved the bits where they are laughing at the idea of the Olympics being held in London.

Silent running is another good call, along with all those 1950’s and 60’s sci fi movies, The Day The Earth Stood Still, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Them and The Village of the Damned.

I thought Sexy Beast was shite. Those two play the same characters in every single film they appear in.

There are a lot of good films on this list – but I have to say the most ecletically brilliant is athgray’s. I would agree that Salvador is Stone’s best movie, but I like Platoon. Having said that my critical faculties desert me when I watch either a war movie or a sports one – so Slap Shot tonight.

I watched Event Horizon again last night after a thread on here. Still good !

Didn’t know Sapphire and Steel was out on DVD, that scared me senseless when I was a kid (on the 10 years later re-runs on kiwi TV of course)
