Diesel Fiat 500, 57k miles, fully serviced etc. Does probs 40 miles/day

Drove fine on Friday – to and from work
Drove fine on Saturday (only a couple of miles)
Started up first time this morning but had the yellow triangle warning light on and the radio was asking for the code (like it had lost power over the weekend) – car drove fine and no other warning lights, all bulbs seem to work fine (usually display a message to say a bulb has gone)
the demister/aircon dials sometimes light up/sometimes don’t when the headlights are on – so potential wiring issue

    Any ideas/where to start looking?

That sounds rather electrical. I’d start by checking that the battery is hooked up ok,and that it isn’t on it’s way out.

Beyond that I’ve no idea, hopefully someone here will know, otherwise it’s Fiat forums/Haynes Manual/Multimeter/Auto electrician/£££ o’clock in descending order.

Thats my inital thought – battery dying and it was colder than usual last night. Car has been doing good runs but not on Saturday.
No battery light on tho and the car started immediately.

Handbook Usually gives a general idea of what the warning lights mean.

    Handbook says “general fault” light

let’s hope it’s not general fault leading to major overhaul.

    Try the battery first.
FIAT original ones are a bit rubbish.

Our Doblo does this now and then, random lights etc.
    Long run and it’s fine.

Having owned a Fiat (well, two Alfa Romeos actually)…

If it’s electrical, DON’T take it to a dealer – they WILL make it worse.

I got a good deal on a battery for the punto from eurocarpats on line.
    Got 8% with TCB too

looking at the thread on the fiat forum it seems battery related. taking it to the local garage on the way home – can supply and fit a new 4 year Bosch battery for <£100 so seems a good plan if it’s that.

£56 at euro? before the discount, just a thought and easy to fit!

dodgy battery replaced and also brake light bulb. All fine. Marsh Auto parts in Crookes to the rescue!! £61 inc fitting for a 4 year Bosch battery

Was just about to post battery, had similar issue on a Rav4 where car actually ran perfectly well but light would keep coming on (and dealer conveniently for him replaced expensive parts under extended warranty). A search in the internet and a new battery later and never had the problem again.
