I’m no ‘gamer’, but I certainly have fond memories of a few video games that I was reminded of when someone asked about silly things we had done after a break-up.

Not including such things as ‘adventure games’ for the Vic-20, the short list is as follows:

‘Mortal Kombat’ in the arcade, c. 1989
‘Lethal Enforcer’ for Sega c. 1992
‘Cabal’ in the arcade c. 1990

And I remember liking the music for ‘Looping’ on Colecovision.

What games do you remember fondly?

Loved that game. Had it for the Amiga 600. Lost hours and hours to that game.

One for me was the arcade version of 1942. Was always the game I headed for when at an arcade. Always came out with the high score too. 😀

I loved MK in the arcades too. Before that, many many 10p bits were claimed by Vulcan Venture (aka Gradius II) and a shoot-em-up no-one’s ever heard of called Armed F.

+1 for JSW. I actually played Manic Miner again on a real rubber-key Speccy a couple of months back. Shocking how much of it is still in my muscle memory.

We’ve all seen this trailer incidentally, yes?

Pjamarama (if only because it’s the first game I completed)
Wanted: Monty Mole
Road Rash (for drunken after hours gaming with mates)
Resident Evil 2 (got me playing again after many years away, how much things had changed)

and more recently…

Medal of Honor Allied Assault
Soldier of Fortune 2 Multiplayer (first ‘proper’ foray into MP)
CoD United Offensive Multiplayer (particularly Base Assault)
Battlefield Desert Combat

Spent very many hours on lots of different games, couldn’t possibly list them all here.

That’s quite a feat, Pyjamarama was a swine of a game to complete.

Biggest time-eaters:

Doomdark’s Revenge on the Speccy. I was utterly obsessed with it.

Original GTA on PC. Gouranga!

More recently, the first PC version of Halo. Now I have to get hold of an Xbox so I can play the sequels.

That trailer looks great, not sure my kids will get half the characters but I will.

Battle Isles good call.

FF series next someone will claim Halo series, completely over rated rubbish.

Talking of Pyjamarama,

There’s a PC and Mac remake. http://www.remakeszone.com/juegos/juego.php?id=42&lng=english

There’s some really really good remakes out there. Andy Noble’s MM / JSW conversions are brilliant. http://www.andynoble.co.uk/games.htm

Another Space Invaders, Defender fan back in the time….

Dungeon Master (only game I have ever completed!)

Never any good at Elite, but it was a great game.

What was the very early spectrum ZX81 game ( I think), where you traveled round a maze, bumped into other things that you would take turns in fighting, you would lose power every turn? all very basic
graphics?

Opps, nearly forgot the first version of gran turismo on the PS

Monster Maze?

I already did. Never played the SNES game, but I used to play (and later GM) the paper-based Shadowrun RPG.

Think my favourite game of all time is:

Since then I’ve wasted many an hour playing Descent, Doom and quake, but never really “progressed”. Or maybe I did in some ways lol.

EF2000 also, I still have a boxed copy on my shelf right here!
