Has anybody said Exodus -Bonded by Blood? A benchmark album that was recorded at the same time as Kill em All but not released until 85 and missed the bus. They should’ve been part of the Big 5.

Iron Monkey – good choice. I saw them in Bradford and you could see looks of confusion on people’s faces.

Perhaps we need a thread to recommend some new ‘metal’… I love getting good new music and am working from home today so can play it loud.

My starter, although not really new is Sixx AM – This is Gonna Hurt – dont be put off by the nikki Sixx inclusion, its better than recent Motley Crue outings, in fact the best thing since Too Fast or Shout at the Devil.

C’mon give me some spotify ideas for the day?

i’m enjoying trying to guess how old everyone is by their choices on this thread 😀

i dont really have any specific favourites but have loads that remind me of times in my life, all good memories.

some new bands emerging out of the UK at the moment for people to check out:

‘sylosis’ seem like they’d fit the general tastes of most on here (been around for years but finally doing big shows all over the world)

and in no particular order for people to check out:

    tesseract
    textures
    skyharbour
    uneven structure
    no consequence
    visions
    red enemy
    monuments
    periphery

    It’s all good.

*has doubts* (I mean Twisted Sister?? 😆 )

Nearest I’d come is Jane’s Addiction – Strays.

But then I have got some of the stuff mentioned previously but it ain’t metal.

At the time it was a breakthrough album.

They ‘supported’ Saxon at a festival at Leeds Queens Hall (with Girlschool and Anvil on the bill too I recall). They blew everyone away with their sound because it was so fresh.

(And I am am just bringing more suggestions to the table – it’s pointless just repeating ones others have said)

Fair enough. I just remember them as a novelty act.

I just remember them as a novelty act.

I think their image made them appear a bit of a novelty definitely, but ‘I am, I’m Me’ was a superb sound.

Then Nirvana released ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ and all that glam went out of the window and everyone started to be moody and black.

Jeeeeeeebus. I used to have that album 🙁 Sounded great when you were 13, mind.

I’ve just realised I forgot to put Nevermore on my list with This Godless Endeavor. Ooh, and Amon Amarth, In Pursuit of Vikings.

And I won’t hear a bad word said about Twisted Sister – they brought us “I Wanna Rock”, “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “Burn in Hell” (covered in style by Dimmu Borgir).

I’m also quite partial to this song at the moment:

I was 15 when I saw them at that festival – just looked online Supported by Girlschool, Twisted Sister, Anvil Spider, Battleaxe, and Panza Division

I loved Anvil – ‘Lips’ doing his ‘trick’ of running a vibrator up and down his bass. 😀 Most amusing as a kid.

At the time I used to DJ at my local youth club – aways opened with ‘Hey Mickey’ (Toni Basil) ((because my name is Mike)) then run into ‘I Am, I’m Me’. Jeebus – I wish I could be a 15 yr old again sometimes.

I liked 1984 – some proper energy in there. Buut the best track they ever did was ‘Runnin’ With The Devil’
