What width does that tyre come up at on your fat rim? I am looking to put a fat front on my haro Mary 29er which has enough clearance for a 3.8″ tyre I guess. What fork were you running it on?
    Thanks,
    Neil

A Surly Larry came up at 87mm width and the wheel with Larry fitted a 100mm Pugsley fork no problem, as you’d expect. There was also clearance(not as much, but enough) with a standard Salsa cromoto fork.

What surprised me is that a standard (Bonty XR4 2.35″) tyre seemed to happy to be run at significantly lower pressure (around 18-20psi) on the 47mm rim, where on a ‘normal’ 23-27mm rim I’d want 28-30psi.

Thanks for that, unfortunately my Haro fork only has 80mm so it would not fit and I can’t fork, tyre and wheel, I’ll have to let this go, sorry.
