- Fast and grippy trail tyres??
Tyre question: I’m going to be using the SX as a trail/xc bike for a while following an injury. The 2.5 42a tyres on there at the moment make it tiring to cycle anything less than 30 degrees dh 😉 Looking for something much faster rolling but also with a good bite on steep rooty/muddy stuff if I’m feeling gnar. Will be riding in forests, nothing rocky. Won’t be running tubeless.
Been looking at rubber queens, barons, nobbly nics so far. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

The spesh purg is lower profile than the clutch sx, hence why I run it on the back, the butcher control is a better bet for something like the clutch. Im really happy with the purg/butcher combo so far. Seem very predictable.
Also used the Mountain king 2, which i liked, nothing like the mark 1 tread, however steer clear of the cheap wire versions, sidewalls are crap. If I were to get another it would be the protection casing.Posted 4 years ago
