Belts? Why is nobody buying jeans that fit them, more to the point.

    Oh, and under.

Have some decorum it’s about style, you always wear a belt.

Obviously there’s no need for a belt at all as we’re all wearing stretch denim these days.

    Aren’t we?

Too right perchy ,stretch is the only thing that works for us cyclists 😉

No, but we are still desperately trying to get into the same size jeans as when we were 20, so flab-roll pressure holds them perfectly in place. On a related issue, The roll of flab also hangs over the area where the label is, so the OP’s question doesn’t matter anyway.

On the topic of belts, the belt should always cost as much as the Jean’s. So a 20 quid belt on 20 quid Jean’s, 80 quid belt on 80 quid Jean’s. The width of belt is directly proportional to cost, as are loop widths on the Jean’s.

    Jeans and shoes? Never.

Poppycock. A suitably expensive brown brouge paired with proper selvedge denim is always a good look.

only if you want to go round looking like a complete berk from a reality tv show lol!!

    This.

Good fitting jeans and a plain white or black t-shirt on someone that’s in decent shape is a classic look. The style of the jeans and t-shirt changes, but the look is a classic.

Lol at STW advice on how to dress well.
the average U.K. ‘middle aged’ man looks like a sack of ***** compared to most of our E.U neighbours. we may have invented a lot of style points along with the Italians but don’t seem to bother any more.

The average Spaniard middle aged man is hardly a style icon in his jeans and t-shirt, and Italians seem to have confused wearing brand name clothes with actual style. No idea about the rest of Europe, maybe they’re more stylish there.

I am still wearing the same size jeans (32/32) that I wore when I was 20. At 52 I am also the same weight (71kg) that I was at 20. As I said earlier, that should be the norm on a cycling forum…

Over, anything else is trying too hard.

Having said that, wear what you want, a. No one cares  and b, high school is probably long past now

In international airports you can always spot the brit. They are the badly dressed ones.

Is this a typo or a humblebrag? To have increased your waist by a solitary inch in 28 years is pretty impressive. 1 inch is almost into margin of error territory. Or did you meant you are 29 with a waist of 48… which would not be so impressive!

If you’re picking your jeans from the 70s, then yes, it’s tragic. No one looks good in light jeans or in blue stonewash. It’s 2020 FFS!. Dark jeans with a decent, well fitting T with good, classy accessories (belt, shoes, etc) should give you a decent look.

I was experimenting with some double denim the other day. Came off more as plumber from an 80s porno instead of guitarist from an 80s rock band

Most of my German colleagues have patches on the arms of not just their jackets, but their shirts too!

Your Gucci belt should always be worn over the label of your skinny jeans.

Polo shirt tucked in and top button done up. Match with loafers, no socks… natch, and a massive fake posh watch.

You’ll feel right at home in sunny Brentwood … a la Gary King.

    King Gary

Which is rather funny sitcom…… in places.

A STW fashionista usually dresses top to toe in crocs / rambling shoes, some sort of trouser which is not a Jean (combats/comfort fit slacks/utility shorts?) and a t-shirt with an ‘amusing’ slogan. This sort of thread is always lost on them.

Oh, and belt over (and also co-ordinating in colour with footwear), though not sure what brands do a patch which you can loop a belt under the days.

humblebrag, though i haven’t actually measured my waist but my trousers are 29 (if i can find them) and fit well, the 30’s are roomy and the belt keeps them from drooping.

Guilty as charged 🙂 no APC or Our Legacy, but lots of universal works/YMC/Blackhorse lane/redwing/trickers etc but it goes with the territory of being a media tosspot.
no different to a badly fitting suit and scuffed pointy shoes to an IT salesperson looking the part.

It doesn’t matter because any top you wear with jeans should be untucked. If it isn’t you will look like Jeremy Clarkson, his tiny friend with the goatee or the one with the stupid hair. You might not think this is how you’ll look, but you’d be wrong.

As opposed to untucked, and looking like a year 8 school kid being rebellious.

Do you also have your wallet on a chain clipped to the belt loops and a Korn patch on your rucksac?
