    Should I?

In the run up to a half marathon in a few weeks and, according to my schedule, I should be out doing 9-10 miles today. But I have a cold and I seem to remember that you shouldn’t exercise when ill.

Do I give it a miss, or MTFU…?

Rule of thumb: symptoms above the neck then exercise ok, below the neck (eg. ‘chesty’) its a no go…….or so I’ve heard/read before

There is a difference between exercise and training.

Go for a long walk, stretch. Missing one long run won’t disrupt your schedule. Missing 2 weeks with a stinking cold will.

I have a really bad chest at the minute, tried to go for a run on Friday night, I managed about 3 minutes before I wS wheezing like a ****.

Not gonna do anything more than walking til the chest is better.

Pretty sure I read that Beryl Burton top women cyclist in the 50-70s died of a heart attack that was caused by her training over many years when she was ill. Think it caused some abnormality in her heart.

i exercised whilst suffering with a chest infection/virus.

my heart when into AF, been off the bike 4 month now waiting for a cardioversion to put it right.

stay off the bike if the problem is below the throat.

IMO a bit of gentle exercise is good – training / hard exercise is bad
