The scene, a village curry house.
Enter stage left, a tired and weary CFH in search of the takeaway ordered earlier (lamb karahi, chicken jalfrezi, rice, garlic naan, tadka dahl and all the poppadums)
Friendly chap in curry house, “It’ll be about five or ten minutes. Beer while you wait?”
Self, “Thanks, but I’m driving, so I’d rather not”
Then I notice the sounds emanating from the speakers…
It’s Band Aid.
*Gulps*
On dangerous ground here. Minutes pass, curry still not ready.
Bananarama.
*Clenches*
The song is ending. Is that the Gates of Wamhalla I hear opening?
Out as of 8am today. Got in the work van this morning, someone had left a Christmas CD in the stereo and the first track to play was Wham! Heard the first few notes before I could hit the off button.
Chris had better hide from me when I next see him, he didn’t refuel it yesterday either 😡
Heard a cover version yesterday so not sure if I’m still in or not.
Original rules pic has gone, but it said covers and remixes were ok.
Only version I’ve heard is the one on the ad for the (no doubt classic) film, so still in… one day to go I believe!
That was a close one, Flashy. Sounds a risk worth taking for the curry though.
I’m beginning to think I’ve got some sort of free pass at the moment, been to all sorts of places in the last few days and not even had a whiff of being Whammed.
Slade? Tick
Wizzard? Tick
Band Aid? Tick
Shaky? Tick
But still no Last Christmas!.
I’m tempted to find thwe Best of Wham on YouTube just to see what happens…. 😉
Had we survived Whamaggedon I should have had a tale to tell of the hardihood, endurance and courage of my companions which would have stirred the heart of every STWer.
Amazingly, still in.
Have heard what seems like every other piece of christmas music ever recorded – pop, rock, blues, easy listening, classical, carols.
Is Lincoln a Wham-free zone?
Can’t see it lasting through tomorrow, knowing where I’ll be going.
I thought I’d made it. Just about to go to bed and read. Then my daughter came in and had insisted on putting on Christmas songs on the radio. I’m not so confident now!
Think I’ve done it as listening to 6music at present; will soon be time to either watch/listen to midnight mass so unless Wham have infiltrated BBC’s religious broadcast schedules…….
I assume I’ll get my reward in heaven?
Made it. Had a close call driving north at the weekend, and again on the 23rd when food prepping demanded festive music, but done. I feel better in my soul.
