  • Etihad Stadium – getting to, and where to stay?

The wife and daughter are off to see that Sheeran fella next year and want to stay over on the night of the concert so they don’t have a 2.5hr drive back home.

The wife has been advised to stay in Altrincham and get the tram there and back. But are there better options? And what time is the last tram at weekends?

    Ta!

I’d stay in the centre of town and get a bus to and from the stadium. Can’t remember the number now but they run pretty regularly

You can walk to the stadium from the city centre along the canal path. I should imagine that there will be hundreds, if not thousands, doing it and it is a proper walkway, not some mankey tow path.

Alti not a bad call actually as you can park, its cheaper than city hotels and trams run back quite late.

There’s a travelodge just down the main road. Basic but cheap and the walk is safe after the concert as hundreds more are going the same way so they will not get stuck on their own.

Yep, hotel deal – there are a few Travelodge/Premier Inn type places very near Piccadilly and trams from there out to Etihad are every 12 minutes.

Nobody ever wants to wake up and find themselves in Altrincham. If you can’t do city centre then there’s loads of hotels on salford quays. It’s a lot less of a journey on the tram. I wouldn’t schlep in and out from Altrincham

Travelodge Ancoats and Crown Plaza Shudehill are both walking distance and fairly central. There is also a Holiday Inn (Express?) on Oldham Road which is spitting distance but theres nothing else in its favour.

Aye Altrincham is a long tram journey from the Etihad, look for a hotel in the city centre. As others have said if the trams have stopped there will be hundreds walking back that way.
