Need to carry a multi tool plus tubeless repair kit and co2 cartridge/pump on a hardtail with dropper. Seen enduro straps and frame bags. I want it mounted on the down tube by the bb

What’s good and what to avoid? Dakine?

If you ride in our typical weather, then anything you strap to the frame will get covered in crud.

    I’d recommend this – https://www.76projects.com/shop/littlepiggy

It fits to your frame with the included strap, or a bottle cage (bolts included). It’s solid, well made, and can be ordered with a dry bag that keeps your gear clean, or a zip case. All your stuff is kept together, kept clean, and no shaking loose or falling off. Been really pleased with mine so far.

Whatever you strap to the frame, check regularly and keep it clean. A strap with a handful of grit can fret through a carbon frame fairly quickly.

I’ve tried the ‘all in one’ strap and found with a tube, Co2 & multi tool it was a pain to keep everything in place & when you want to take something out trailside getting everything back in place was also annoying.

Now I use the Syncros bottlecage with the tool built in & luckily I really like specialized saddles so use the SWAT strap which bolts into the underside of the seat to carry tube & tyre lever.

Alpkit Fuel or Enduro Pod for me. I mount on TT but have seem them on downtube. Reasonably waterproof, but a plastic bag makes sure and stops bits rattling.

Got a few of the louri frame straps
    https://louribike.com/products/louri_frame_strap

I’ve never had anything fall out or move with them – i even use one to hold my battery when night riding.

They often have a seconds section – where some are cheaper… 🙂

I have a dakine hotlaps, it works really well on the top tube or seat tube and like most dakine stuff is made to last. On the downtube it will spin round on big hits. I tried sticky back velcro which worked for a bit but eventually water gets in and it loses its stick. I’ve swapped to a custom cotic framebag which looks great but I didn’t get chance to use.

I’ve been using these cheap and cheerful straps:

They don’t look the most robust but I’ve not lost anything so no complaints. I run a Halfords triangle frame bag as well and the friction wearing is a lot worse with that than with the straps.

I’ve got a louri strap or two – they work well with rubberised bits to keep stuff off the frame. I still wrap the frame in a bit helitape so you can hopefully see any wear before it gets bad.

I’ve also just spent a silly amount of money on a one-up pump and tool kit thingie, bolts on next to cage easily.

I use a back country research motherlode strap and really like it. Enough room for a multitool, tyre levers and an inner tube. They also offer some really cool patterns/colours!

Big fan of the Straightcut Designs tool roll I have that attaches to your saddle. It’s super low profile, fits a decent amount in and seems very secure.

A decent frame strap is useful for tubes, but can’t really carry much else. Definitely useful when combined with another bag though.

76Projects ‘little piggy’ for me, bolt on or strap on if you have no bottle mounts. Perfect when used with their zip up bag!
