I have one of those Makita DAB radios but don’t have any Makita batteries. I’d always assumed I could only use it on a 240V socket. Having been on strict 110V only sites for the last few months, I’m missing the radio a bit. 🙁

I checked the transformer today and it says on the side 100-240V AC at 50Hz in, 12V DC out. Site transformer sends out 110V at 50Hz. So if I jerryrigged a 110V plug to a 3 pin socket, will the radio transformer convert that to 12V DC ok?

Will I blow the shit out of anything if I try it?

It will work as the site supply is within the transformer spec. Most modern transformers are multi-voltage these days.

Or do it the old school way and strip the guts out a site 110v fluorescent strip light and make a contraption to power the 240v transformer.
Would probably get you kicked of site these days though.
