Nearly won a steel Fausto Coppi, when I came across an unusual Columbus SL MBK on LFGSS. That must be quite common, finding something better in the dieing seconds.
    Few.
Retro/modern build on it’s way, and the bike I intend to audax on.

Ah, my first bike with gears, and first MTB was a MBK. Brakes were the wrong way round as it was french though, but it was ace for wheelies.

I can only assume your new MBK will also be ace at wheelies.

am looking for a steel road bike (but not for at least a year,as am paying for things at present) are they quite expensive to buy, classic road bikes,or quite reasonable.i love the look of the old racers (and they were ridden by some of the greatest tour de france riders, eddy merckx in particular springs to mind.i think they look great.enjoy your steed.

raceface. At first it looks like there are loads of steel frames out there, but you’ll find it’s either junk or proper collectable, and much in between including fakes.
Then you have all the variable rear spacing.
I went for an early 90s model with 130mm spacing so I can run modern kit.
