will probs be a while before I get it built and running tho…

while I’m here…I take it with the correct bb you don’t need a special chainset?

If you bought a Phil Wood 100mm square taper then any square taper cranks would do.
Cheapest option is truvantiv Giga DH 100mm BB (£40) then use there Blaze cranks but heavish and didnt last long on beach (500 miles).
or go complete 100mm BB crankset which use outboard bearings from race face or surly here in UK or lighter ones from Speedway Cycles Alaska.

Im getting around 1500 miles out bearings on the PW BB and there £6 (cheapy) £14 (SKS) a pair to replace from any bearing supplier,
need to order a PW 100mm into UK but Brixton Cycles got mine in a couple of weeks, pricey at £150 with fitting tool but serviceable item so long term good value 😮

When you see someone fiddling around with a half fat project, you know it won’t be long before…. 🙂

What’s going to stop you building it right now?

Remember we got a good load of snow in Mar/Ar a few years ago, and the beach is there all the time.

heh I’ll be scrimping for a while…but I need bb, chainset and front mech…and re-drill and lighten the rims them build dished wheels…Woody wanna buy your forks back?

if I buy that DH bb do I need the DH cranks or will any do? Will prob do the cheap option and go for square taper if the concept is a keeper.
