My kids love watching these Russian car crashes and I was so intrigued about how some of them come about, as the driving defies any kind of logic, I asked a Russian client. His answer was everyone is off their head on vodka.
Having been there a few time , I can tell you that the driving standard is truly awful. Vodka is not the only issue – texting whilst drive, emailing whilst driving are also very common … and just the standard is awful, and that old Muscovite arrogance
Do Russians have car insurance a I’d hate to see what the premiums must be!?!
The “cheap” one is called OSAGO (3rd party), it’s obligatory and it will never ever compensate anything to you if you ARE at fault. It only compensates to those you caused damage to. So, if you want to get paid regardless of who is at fault, you get KASKO (fully comp), but it does have limits. Basically, the more expensive KASKO you buy, the more compensation you can possibly get.
Did you see he then smashes his way out of the van and tries to hijack the 4×4 he’s just rolled into before being accosted by some passers by?
Three worst places I’ve been driven around: Moscow, Bangalore and Sofia. Moscow was just too fast and mental, the Indians couldn’t give a fig about traffic laws and the Bulgarians insist on using multiple phones simultaneously.
