Got to drive down from Preston to Guildford tomorrow afternoon.

    It the best way M6, M40, M25 and M3?

On a good day yes but change M3 to A3.

Otherwise if you hear that M25 is bad, get of M40 at High Wycombe and take A404 past Henley and M’head. Them one junction (the wrong way!) on M4 then past Bracknell and on to Camberlry (passing Swinley on your LHS!) to the Blackwater Valley towards Farnham. The a31 hogs back to guildford.

If M25 is OK, then the first option is faster and easy. The second is better if M25 is bad

    Safe journey!

or M6 then M5 then A417(to Swindon) M4 to J10, A322 M to Bracknell and through to M3 and straight across

In my experience, the straight route from Bracknell over M3 and thru wisely and worplesdon etc is slow. It looks better on map than it is in practice.

    Thanks,

Will keep an eye on the road reports and see how the M25 is looking, if itlooking like it could be a pain I can adapt my journey accordingly!

    M6> M6toll >M42 >M40 >M25 >A3
20 years from Lancs to west London, my preferred route, getting on the M5 can be sticky at times, hence I cough up for the toll road.
