    Hi all,

Sorry in advance for all of the questions!

I am converting my drivetrain from 2×9 to 1×11. I have already bought a 34T NW chain ring. I am thinking I’ll go for a 11-46 cassette and an XT M8000 11 speed mech.

Do I need to go for a medium or long cage mech? Also, do I need direct or standard mount?

My current mech is a SRAM X9 and it is attached to a hanger.

Someone recommended the Sunrace MX8 11-46 cassette, will that be compatible with this setup and what chain would anyone recommend?

    Thanks again guys!

What do you hope to gain by the change?

I’d leave well alone if I were you.

Medium cage, standard mount, sunrace cassette will be fine

    Cheers.

The usual websites show this as direct mount. Can I buy this version and just remove the B link or whatever it’s called and then attach it to my hanger?

Leave the link in to work with standard hangers. Remove it to work with DM hangers.

You may or may not need to remove a spacer from behind the cassette.
