  • Downloading films – do people do this?

Mt lad wants to watch 8 mile – and I have juts sold my copy to music magpie along with the other dvds and cds. We want to watch it tonight, so I first looked at joining lovefilm, but it’s not offered as part of their online package. Then I tried to see if I could rent it from BT vision, but its not there either.

I don’t mind paying for a rental if there’s somewhere that streams to the PS3…

I have noticed lots of sites where you seem to be able to download the film for free? Do people actually do this? Is this the only way I’m going to be able to watch this film tonight?

Does anyone actually pay for music and filmage these days!?

Edit: to be more helpful, yes, there are plenty places you can stream movies. BE better to torrent it though, more likely to get better quality. Helps to run linux too, then virus’s (viruu?) don’t tend to matter.

People with fast broadband download films using torrents.
I don’t bother as it has taken me about 2 days solid to get 1 film.
They are usually in DivX formaat (or avi), so not playable on all dvd players

I pay for online rental, guaranteed quality and can start watching within a few seconds as t streams. Downloading takes ages, then you have tO faff about – aPple tv, job done. I also buy music – old fashioned CDs for me. I like the inset artwork and yOu have a backuP

Loads of people do it. Shouldn’t do it but it happens and is very easy to do.

I don’t, I just have a couple of hard drives with all that sort of shiz on it.

But I guess you’re making a point about not physically having these items not being the same etc? For me its all about the music/film not the packaging I’m afraid. Each to their own though.

M6TTF – what site do you use? I expect to pay, it would be good to watch ion the telly through PS3 but if this isn’t possible we could drag the settee round to the computer!

Weird how everything is so instant these days, isn’t it.
Want a song? browse, download it, listen
    Photo of something? Google image..
    Film? TV Internet connection!

Just had a thought – you could pop down to Blockbuster… 😉

There is a blockbuster about 5 miles away…trouble is – I think I owe them a days rental from about 10 years ago! They might have me arrested.

I just rent through the iTunes store mate, streams via the apple tv box into the tv. You can watch on the mac/pc too.

Honestly, illegally downloading gangsta rap films for your child, sounds like bad parenting to me – how old is this boy? Won’t someone think of the children?

edit: Oh and I see you’ve already defrauded your local Blockbuster – I’m surprised your child isn’t out dealing crack already tbh

He needs something to cheer him up. He lost his crack pipe at kindergarten yesterday.

Sure millions of people do it. If you get a VPN from These Guys then there is no chance of being caught either.

You liked that, didn’t you ?

I’m beginning to wonder what I’m missing out on now, how hard can it be?

Why is new, faster, better automatically worse for some people? No dvd’s in this house fir a few years now. Hd movies from a server. Downloaded from itunes or other suppliers.

    Saves transport and manufacter.

i am surprised people buy legit stuff tbh but I only download maybee one thing per month
Surely eminem will respect you for sticking it to the man

if you have a ps3 you can sign up to lovefilm and watch through them easily

i tend to torrent stuff and if i like it ill buy the boxset well for tv shows, films im not too bothered about and usually buy when they are in the bargain bin

if you have a new tv you can probably plug your pc into the tv via a monitor cable, turn it onto pc mode and watch it from your computer

I’ve tried several times to illegally download movies. It always turned out to be a complete waste of time. I had to plough through tons of porn, spam and really dodgy websites taht just referred yout o other dodgy websites ad infinitum. When I finally found a torrent it’d take days and days to download.

I’d rather just pay £3 in Asda.

I tunes..just link your tv up with the HDMI cable from your console. Job done.

I would strongly advise against downloading vlc media player in order to play pretty much any file , getting utorrent and then going to the pirate bay and downloading 8mile using it as this is very illegal and M and M’s will suffer terribly financially if you do so.

It would be dreadful if you had a very fast BB connection so you could do this in under 20 minutes.

It would be even worse if you waited an hour while you downloaded the DVD image which you could burn and play in your DVD player.

You don’t have to download the file to watch it anyway – you can usually find a stream thats free.
For example here is an illegal stream of the recent MTB film lifecycles.

    http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/iBzd3okY_0g/

Please don’t open it as its illegal to do so.
If you were to do so you could watch it on your TV using a HDMI cable.

Whatever happened to the local video store?

I’ve still got one a 5 minute walk from my house.
