I actually wish Borat had left it a bit later cos I reckon Giuliani was about to grab her or at least do something really inappropriate. The little pat on her lower back/top of her ass was pretty sleazy

When was the FLOTUS last seen?

She was spotted being shoved off stage by her turd of a husband last night. I’m sure she’s tucked up in bed reading her pre-nup as we speak.

I guess you have to weigh up ethically what you subject an actress to as part of her job. Having to watch Ghouliani’s chub emerging like something out of Alien or getting properly groped is probably above and beyond normal professional expectations and could be a bit traumatising!

Yes, there was probably a team of production staff watching that and shouting into SBCs earpiece “that’s enough we’ve got him, go now!”

If Cohen was a serious documentarian, he should have let it keep rolling as long as the interviewer is comfortable with what’s happening and isn’t in danger. Problem is, he’s not, he’s a comedian who works very close to the line between what’s acceptable and what’s not. I think guys like Giuliani are fair game, they’re public figures and sleazy as hell. The people in the first movie that had him for dinner, where he came back with a bag of shit actually seemed really decent to me and I don’t think they deserved to be treated like that.

Anyway, Giuliani did enough to suggest that he had very inappropriate intentions. If they’d let the camera keep rolling, he might have actually redeemed himself so that was a good spot to stop. If they’d let it keep rolling and cut it, it would have allowed Giuliani to claim (reasonably) that it had been deceptively edited.

Giuliani and guys like him deserve what they get, but I’m a bit ambivalent about Cohen and his methods sometimes.

Interviewed on GMA this morning. Quite interesting, he went on to say the point was to highlight division, but underneath many of the people were good people. Said he actually got on with the QAnon guys for example. How does he film this stuff? I understand the hit on Guliani, but much of it is just filmed 🤔

    Borat defends Giuliani…

“I here to defend America’s mayor Rudolph Giuliani,” Borat says. “What was an innocent sexy time encounter with a consenting man and my 15-year-old daughter has been turned into something disgusting by fake news media.”

He adds, “I warn you, anyone else tries this and Rudolph will not hesitate to reach into his legal briefs and whip out his subpoenas.”

As much as I hate him, looking at the short clip of him lying back on the bed it does look like he’s tucking his shirt in

WHAT?!?!?! In no world whatsoever does it look like he was tucking his shirt in!!!!

It looks like he laid back, then stuck his hand down his trousers to grab his cock. Mainly because…..he laid back, then stuck his hand down his trousers to grab his cock.

hols – an alternative is the famous Arkell v Pressdram response by Private Eye…

    Dear Sirs,

We acknowledge your letter of 29th April referring to Mr. J. Arkell.

We note that Mr Arkell’s attitude to damages will be governed by the nature of our reply and would therefore be grateful if you would inform us what his attitude to damages would be, were he to learn that the nature of our reply is as follows: **** off.

    Yours,

Don’t think that matters really – he was in a hotel with a young reporter, and had accepted an invite to a hotel room and was in the process of removing his mics lying on a bed.

Can’t see how the 15 year-old bit applies also TBH – he wouldn’t think somebody working as a reporter was 15 – or was he told that as part of the hit? Might have missed that bit.

How can he keep working after this?

If it took Baron Cohen in women’s underwear and a wig to make Giuliani realise he was being set up (by two actors posing as journalist/producer), how hard would highly trained foreign spies in another country have to work to fool him. It does look like he COULD have been tucking his shirt in but as a man who’s spent the last couple of years claiming to be unearthing worldwide corruption that has been covered up by Trumps adversaries/ political opponents it doesn’t really help his cause. Whether he’s tucking his shirt in or not is missing the point and he doesn’t even seem to realise that based on his tweets of late

Yeah precisely. He’s obviously being sleazy and awful, but the real ‘gotcha’ is how easily he was compromised.

Following the interview, he accepted an offer to go for a drink in the bedroom. I’ll just reiterate that, the BEDROOM. With a little sort who’d been giving him the eyes and making him feel all important. He was in there quickcock like the randy rabbit he is. Tucking his shirt in my backside. He was lying back on the bed and checking the plumbing when Borat burst in.

What’s interesting is it looked like business as usual for him. All in a day’s work. As said above, if SBC can set him up this easily, god only knows what Vladimir has on him. Lots of preliminary sketches at the very least..

Yup, absolutely. if you were to see just him, on the bed, in isolation you might conceivably think he was tucking in his shirt. But in the context, absolutely not.

There’s two responses I really like just now. One is “Oh but she was leading him on”- which is true, and is no defence at all in any case as far as “dirty old bastard”. But as far as the “likely to be compromised and is in a key position of national security”, it’s the exact opposite of a defence, it makes it even worse. If he was just trying it on with young women, well that’s really bad but still no worse than the president. But instead he’s showed the world that he can be lead anywhere by his cock. And he has so little judgement that he genuinely seems to think that young women want to have sex with alcoholic anger-goblins, rather than that they’re after something.

The other is “sharing this is illegal because it’s revenge porn”. As far as I can tell, this started out as a joke, but Trump’s army of idiots and bots have picked it up. And it’s brilliant, because it’s an admission that it was a sexual act. Can’t be revenge porn if it’s innocent.

It’s like that law in Boston (and probably other states) where it was made a crime to obstruct, damage or otherwise sabotage hazardous waste pipes, after a bunch of environmental activists kept filling them with cement. But it was never used, even once, because to use it you had to go out in public and say “See that pipe? It’s full of hazardous waste. See all that stuff pouring into that river? Hazardous waste”.

The timing of Borat bursting in is sort of interesting, because yes it’d be great to have like an extra 30 seconds of footage for disambiguation. But they’re already waaaaaaaay past the point where most people would have pulled it- as soon as he touched her ass basically. I’m just impressed that they either had a pre-prepared intervention, or that he adlibbed it.

The Head of the Coronavirus Taskforce’s team seems a bit depleted by positive tests this morning. Pence’s chief of staff and four others, reportedly. He is going to be working overtime praying away the Covid.

I know this is jumping the gun and jinxing the result but……

Inauguration of a potential President Biden on Jan 20 2021 if he were to win AND Trump were to concede swiftly.

Has there been a defeated president in history as predisposed to generate vindictive carnage for 2.5 months on a nation (and specific states and voter groups) that rejected him? And has there been a time in history when the actions of a defeated presentent in their last days in office were quite so important to the wellbeing of the nation?

The method of executing democracy in the States is truly baffling.

Fauci was recorded on Friday unfortunately, so didn’t cover the very latest Trump administration COVID denier stuff.

And has there been a time in history when the actions of a defeated presentent in their last days in office were quite so important to the wellbeing of the nation?

Quite. Although he’s hardly doing much at the moment TBH, can’t get much worse. I was thinking if the incoming administration might offer some coalition COVID response team as part of the handover.

News links the other day suggested Trump was doing something to leave a load of his appointees in permanent roles to undermine Biden if he wins. Can’t recall where the link was to share.

I think he was making a lot of his personal temporary appointments into permanent government roles, when ordinarily they’d lose their position when he left office

Then he’s going to alter the law which won’t be a quick process but even if he does, won’t Biden just re-alter it as President or just sack them as Trump has done with anyone who hasn’t agreed with him?

The method of executing democracy in the States is truly baffling.

The delay between election and inauguration is so that there’s a smooth transfer of power: unlike here where there’s effectively a permanent civil service, in the States the top levels get replaced so there’s a handover period. Once that’s up then the new guys aren’t allowed by law to talk to the old guys. There was a Vanity Fair article about when the Trump administration took over, amongst a raft of other things few of them had the necessary security clearance to take on their roles or even talk about them to the incumbents.

It reads as if he has instructed the wilful destruction of the US civil service as an independent entity.

But don’t the outgoing Presidency leaves guidance on certain matters? A bit like Obama left a 69-page National Security Council playbook on fighting pandemics that Trump seemed to have ignored.

There’ll be a lot of handover stuff, ranging from: Here’s the code for the nukes, to: This landed on my desk, it’s up to you to deal with it. A bit like any job really, just with some bigger consequences.
