Doing some research on a riding holiday in the Dolomites there is often reference to the extensive “white road” network high up in the mountains. I know they are a legacy of the fighting in the first world war and wondered if they would be suitable for a rough stuff bike (gravel bike, monstercross, adventure bike etc etc) with maybe some cheating in a chair lift to get up there!
This would enable me to take one bike, two wheel sets and I can have a crack at some of the road riding in the area.
    Cheers

There are indeed lots of old WW1 military installations along the Trentino – South Tyrol border.

And yes, you’ll generally find lots of white limestone gravel roads leading up to a mountain hut.

Lots of info online, albeit in German.

    Google “Dolomiten Militär MTB Touren”
