  • Does anyone grease the top shock bushing on their full suss?

I recently removed my shock and gave the bushings and bits around the bearings a good clean. I noticed a bit of play and wear in the top bushing (new shock and bushings arriving soon) so decided to apply some grease to the bushings. The suspension now feels better than it ever has ie much more supple. I think the shop may have had it all done up too tight or something. Does anyone else grease the bushings or is it generally a bad idea cos it might attract grit?

I don't, but that could be why they only seem to last six month.

Depending on the bush type, they should be run dry. Grease and oil swell the surface material and then it all gets rubbed off leaving you with a very baggy feeling pivot.

Ok thanks. I've had the bike for a year now and I noticed that the bushings had worn their way into the inner coating of she shock eye. I think this may have caused it to seize up a bit and cause the premature wear to the shock shaft. Is it possible to replace the bushings with bearings to elliminate this problem?
