I do it every year on the works Xmas do. I like the people I work with but it can be socially awkward drinking with them. Last year, after the meal, we went to some trendy bar, I held the door open for everyone to go in, then let it shut behind them and went and had a couple in Spoons on my own before going home. I’ll be doing a similar thing on Thursday evening…

Every time I have a work do. It’s almost a point of pride that people never see me leave.

I always tell one person I am leaving so no one worries but yes I avoid the big leaving scene

Yep, survival mode kicks in and I usually run home, sometimes more successfully than others.I now try to avoid all work dos, apart from maybe the odd meal.

Had a friend who vanished on one Christmas outing, no one could get hold of him. Turns out he just walked home, but he lived over 18 miles from the venue, It took him 8 hours to walk it.

I do as well, I have a self activating homing beacon that usually goes off after the second post meal pub

Lots. Even did it to the missus once, took a while to get that one chalked off. Still gets brought up now and again and it must be 10 years ago.

Not too bad this morning, seems no one g.a.s. People were more caught up in their own drunken embarrassment which apparently included one lass dancing on a table! and another spilling red wine all over a stranger.

I always set my stall out early by priming people that I need to get the last train home which is usually around 11pm. Just get up when I’ve had enough and announce that i have to go and catch my train.
A taxi home from Glasgow, which is invariably where nights out are held, can be fifty quid if you can find a driver prepared to take you at all.
No works night out is worth paying that for.

Never go out drinking with people you work with

Just go out and get trashed with people you actually like.

I like all my colleagues and am good mates with a few, who I meet socially. One is a handy cyclist too.

Although it’s annoying when a mate does it (unfortunately it never occurs to me to stop drinking and go home early), it’s only wrong if it’s your round when you sneak off.

Luckily, unlike some of the grumpy sods on here I genuinely like the guys in my team and class most of them as actual mates so I don’t mind work dos if they’re going. I’m not very good at staying out once I’ve had enough though these days; when I’m done, I’m done and it’s home time for me. I usually say bye though.

Absolutely all the time. It’s known as ‘ducking’ amongst us and it has become a fine art to slip away unnoticed… special kudos to the first to duck, usually involves pretending to go for a piss then diving out the door, but the best one is pretending your going to get a round in but never come back! They’re all waiting for their drinks then it suddenly dawns on them… 😀

Yep, I’ve even planned my out for Friday. I’ll get my drinks in and while the barstaff are handing them over sneak out.

They all know I’ve got a first aid course so no issues otherwise I’d ghost it.

Always say goodbye to someone, I’m old enough to not be embarrassed about it any more. I sometimes wish I’d stayed until I discover the mess people got in to the next day 🙂

I do it frequently. I’ll hit the limiter and homing instinct takes over. It’s become my signature move over the years, to a point where people are more surprised if I’m still around at closing time if it’s been a big night.

More often than not though I’m the last man standing so not an issue.
