Paint them. Remember, the better the preparation, the longer the paint will stay on.
Wash to remove salt, grit blast 50µm profile SA2.5 (near white metal). Zinc rich primer, high build intermediate and a polysiloxane top coat. It’ll be 25 years before they need doing again.
Or more sensibly as you are no painting a bridge have a look at the hammerite website as a generic guide.
Personally I’d brush it on after a bit of cleaning.Posted 4 years ago
