I’m running centre lock Shimano disc rotors with XTR brakes, am getting some new brakes for another frame. Am I stuck with buying Shimano again or can I go buy some Hayes or Avid brakes or other brand and use them with my Shimano rotors? If not, do other brands make centre lock rotors?

    Thanks

I believe there are some “incompatibilities” but not many. I have
a Hayes Stroker set running on Avid rotors and a SLX set running on
Aztec wavy or Hayes rotors both without any problems.

I’ve got Hayes on XT and Formula rotors and Hope on Formula and Hope rotors. No issues at all.

Ah cool…..am slowly building a new bike for the summer, dont really want to shell out for new wheels just yet and finding it hard to get enthusistic about Shimano brakes, especially at these prices.

Avid Juicy 7s on Shimano disks here, not had a problem, in fact i’ve never had the squeal that other people get as standard with their avid juicys in the wet!

thanks all…..ordered some Stroker Trails, hopefully they will be fine, I can flog the rotors and buy some splined ones eventually. going down the 15mm QR fork route on a Blur LT1…..man its a headache, hope its worth it.
