  • Dirt cheap small android phone
  • To attach to my bars. Probably won’t even bother with a sim. Don’t want a Garmin, as it won’t work with my Blevo e-bike app

I have a Blackview tough phone that’s (almost) ideal. The trouble is, it’s that heavy it shakes about whatever I mount it on and eventually ends up moving whatever bracket it’s attached to. So, I just want a small handset for navigating, but also to use as an e-bike controller.

Current set up that was a PITA doing an Edale loop

    That mount looks shoogly.

Can you have a top tube bag with phone visible?
    For example: https://www.singletracks.com/mtb-gear/sks-explorer-top-tube-bag-and-smartphone-holder-is-smarter-than-it-looks-review/

or phone in your pocket and pull out when you need to navigate?

King Kong mini, small, ‘waterproof’ armoured. I had the mk2 version, 80 quid although it’s gone up I think. Roughly mk1 SE size

I have a quadlock mount that holds a big phone well.

Neither are really options I want to persue – don’t like the idea of a bag and not a fan of having a phone in my pocket tbh

I’ve used a quadlock before and it was great – just have the issue of finding a compatible quadlock case, or sticking a generic sticky backed quadlock mount to your phone

Still using a Pixel 3a as my day-to-day phone, still does everything I need, with battery life of about 2 days.

I also use a Quadlock whenever I need to navigate a new to me area.
Sticky mount on the back of my phone case has been fine.
