My Daughter has a Canon A 470. It’s served her well for a few years but has recently started eating batteries. A set only lasts a few hours.

I assume that repair will be uneconomic so I’m looking for a replacement.

My first thought was another Canon. I really like my IXUS but the budget is limited to about £80. At this price I’ve no real clue. It will just used for snaps and she likes taking videos. Ease of use and ruggedness are important.

Amazon has a Sony CyberShot S930 for about £80. Are they any good?

    What else would you recommend?

    Help!

    Thanks

eating batteries?? Are they rechargables? AA?

Are you sure the rechargables haven’t had it? I’d try new batteries before replacing the camera if that’s the only problem.

No they’re normal AA. The last ones were Kodak and they lasted about 4 hours. (Not 4 hours use just 4 hours in the camera)

How about another A470? 50 quid in Argos and if she is happy with it why not.
No new controls to suss out and any case she already has will fit

I was thinking that another one may have a similar problem. But for £50 it may be worth a punt.

    Thanks all.

GF has one of these, and i have the 75. great little cameras. you’ll want a bigger card, but battery life is great, and so are the pictures IMO.

I’ve just looked into them after seeing their prices.

After 5m of googling, conclusion: fraudsters, avoid!
