Dear manufacturers and marketers of mtb kit, if you’re going to discontinue a product for whatever reason please don’t carry on using that product’s name for a replacement product that has totally different design and materials. Some of us find kit that works and want to replace like with like when stuff wears out, it’s really annoying to find that the [name of product] subsequently refers to something which bears little relation to the original. You can’t always tell from the online description and image. Grrr.

There are plenty more words in the dictionary.

Have a look at everything that’s been called a ‘Ford Mustang’ over the years (particularly the latest one).

    You’ll need a sit down…

I believe that the second one is called Stumpjumper FSR.

    Cheers!

    Ha Ha!

Now, imagine every time you release an updated product you have to also come up with a new name, that people will instantly identify with your brand, and is not already in use by another brand.

With a bike, okay I concede materials change but the geometry should be roughly the same if you’re reusing the model name.

Reason for posting is actually a pair of very bog-standard gloves, perfect for everyday use, keep the nice stuff for proper riding. Last of three 2014 pairs are just now wearing through, so I order some more… nothing like the originals, closer to marigolds.

Edit – knock-off marigolds made of substandard material.

    See also Karrimor KSBs.

Version 1 – fabulous. Version 2 (possibly after Sports Direct takeover, though didn’t know that at the time – appalling). Oh well.
