    Look correct?

    M9100 – full bells and whistles
    M8100 – as per m9100 but no hollow pin (does it lose any coatings from m9100?)
    M7100 – As per m8100 but loses outer link coating
    M6100 – no coatings (?)

    Different sources are saying different things.

    It looks to me m8100 is all the performance of m9100 but with a weight penalty, correct?

    M9100 is only one made by Shimano – rest are KMC built to Shimano spec. Too early to say on 12 Spd, but I’ve always found XTRs to way outlast XT and lower chains.
