You have a ford focud tdci for a start or a vauxhall cdti!

Tuning boxes aren't a great way to go about this really. Most are just a series of resistors to drop some of the values into the ECU, most commonly tell the car it's colder than it thinks so it over fuels the engine giving more power.

Have a look at a proper remap if you want to get your power levels up. About £250ish I've used sp tuning before (based in leciester but mobile) a couple of times with good results.

Yes they work but only by fooling the ECU into thinking the fuel temperature is cooler – you need a remap for proper power.

sorry its a ford focus , I thought re-mapping was about £400 so was put off ! but £250 sounds good , have a website?

best bet is performance exhaust and then remap but a remap to get off the standard is the cheapest and most common option.

http://www.seatcupra.net & click on the diesel tuning section – not Ford specific but a lot of the tuners do Fords

I have had one on my Picasso and one on my Xsara. The Xsara I had rollling roaded before and after figures before 107bhp figures after 137bhp and I get at least 10% more MPG.

Even the mrs commented on the Picasso after it was done.

The Toyota verso will be next when out of warranty that should give over 200BHP. not bad for a bus!

the place I used is tunit in Chorley, very good people and although it was £500 inc rolling road it ws well worth it IMHO

They do all types of cars BTW

Defo steer away from the tuning boxes and get a proper re-map by a recomended tuner. Get your exhaust and filter upgraded first though so the engine can breath.

looks like a re-map it is then dont really like the sound of a box as it might give problems 🙁

Got a 'PD Tuning Chip' in my Golf, I really like it, gives much smoother power delivery, seems to counter some of the turbo-lag. The on board computer indicates far lower fuel consumption (55-65mpg vs 45-50 without the 'chip'), but in fact it'll do about 525 miles on a tank irrespective!

Not sure I'd do it in a car I was planning to keep for years, can't be doing anything particularly good! A heavy right foot tends to lead to vast amounts of crap coming out of the exhaust too, I tend to take it out around MOT time!

Chucky is probably talking at pendle performance who are very well respected. You don't need to do the full rolling road bit unless you want to know the exact changes in hp and torque to be honest. it allows a slightly better map but nothing major.

nope , it's Tunit in Chorley i'm on about, the unit has been on my car for 2.5yrs and still going great, passes the MOT no problems.

friend of mine had his ovloV remapped (it's the same platform as the Focus) he hates it now, says it sounds really rough, but he does admit that it goes like stink!

    some good advice here[/url]
I have a focus 1.8 disiesel estate, and I like the motor as it is, but then I've only recently got it and it beats the pants off my previous car (A4 avant 1.6 petrol) I've found the FFOC to be very informative

Roveron tuning boxes come recommended by Mondeo owners, so would imagine they would have a similar effect on the Fiesta.

They are better than your average tuning box and don't seem to produce any problems, but a good remap will be better (and more expensive!).

Not sure if anyone makes one for the Fiesta, but decats are the cheapest and best place to start. Diesels don't need to pass an emmisions test for MOT, just a smoke test so you can remove the cat just fine. Usually adds 5-10% power.
