Down in Dartmouth( friends place on the hill overlooking Blackpool sands) for a week soon. Seems there is little time for excursions to Dartmoor where I know a few routes(wife is from Totnes/South Brent). Guessing the roads will be jammed with holiday/regatta trafic so shan’t bother with road bike. Enough nearish to warrant a mtb? Compromise can take the cx. What say you forumistas?

CX will probably give you some more options but even on the roads the hills might mean the mountain bike is the way to go. Depends on your fitness.

IMO You will struggle to find enough bridleways around Dartmouth to string together a decent off road ride unless you have a load of local knowledge or go 100% cheeky trails.

Thanks, Prob go cx then. I live in a very hilly part of the world so used to lumps!

I took my CX bike down there a few weeks ago, did a few trails out around the Castle but really, I’d have been better off with the road bike.
The hills are brutal but quite short.
