Just about to sit down and relax and the only thing I have to watch is Sunshine….

Is it worth the 2 hours?

I enjoyed the first 2/3. After that it goes a bit hammy horror for me.

Too much style over content. It’s not Alien. Watch Moon instead.

I thought it was really good. But not as good as the one it kind of echoes, with Sam Neill, hang on…… ah yes, Event Horizon.

Meh. I watched it, but it wasn’t anything special. Wouldn’t recommend it personally

It does settle into a sort of disappointingly familiar groove at a certain point but on the whole I liked it. Definitely worth a watch IMO.

Fact : Everybody’s fav professor (Brian Cox) was technical science advisor for the film, good film and best watched on a very large screen in a dark room wi the sub turned right up so it shakes your fillings.

Everybody’s fav professor (Brian Cox) was technical science advisor for the film,

That, for me, would be a negative. Coxy just annoys me…

    Still a good film though!

Silent Running really didn’t do anything for me.

One of my favourite films, the 1970s were the golden age of Sci-fi imo.

Sunshine was ok, wouldn’t watch it again.

What an odd thing to say. it’s not as if he appears in it.

I thought it was an excellent film. I also liked the horror-type ending, but then again, I like horror films.

Silent Running: I watched it based on Mark Kermode’s recommendation that it is the only perfect film he has ever seen. I promptly fell asleep and sent it back to Lovefilm without watching the rest.

    Sunshine – just about passable,
    Moon – brilliant,
Silent Running – of it’s day but well watching.

Post a review, it’ll be interesting to see which side you come down on.

Just asking. What has the f that got to do with him advising the film? Presumably they were trying to get the science right, right?

Apparently all the science in the film is theoretically possible, just not at this present time with our limited scientific ability, although that is all according to an article i read online regarding Brian Cox’s involvement with making sure the science married up with the story. i’m prob wrong though as i’ve been duped before so i am open to ridicule.

    Mark Kermode certainly likes it!

It’s a decent film. Far better than most of the shite that passes for “scifi” these days. It’s not better than Moon though. Quite different to Moon to be fair.

I seem to remember being surprised how good it was. Though didn’t know it was a Danny Boyle at the time.

Cox was a little bit embarrassed by his involvement when questioned about it on IMC

Agreed. But, IMO, the best sci-fi of recent times is Monsters. Superb production and soundtrack, reasonably good acting, coupled with great FX and storyline; a right corker. And on TV this evening…

    A good film so far…..

But I may have closed my eyes for a short while…..so who is the fifth member going around and killing the remaining crew?

Is it someone from the existing crew or from the other ship???

    teasel

    Other ship. The sun-bleached guy…

Pinbacker…..the fifth crew member…. the guy from the previous ship/mission who was seen on the video logs, correct?

    I enjoyed the film 🙂

I thought ‘Monsters’ was going to be rubbish, but I actually thought it was very good IMO.
