Daily ******* Mail fail.

Could be worse, could be the young reading and believing this utter shite. Used to read my parents copy thirty years ago. Was suprised to see the same bloke is still writing the same old shite. Nothing changes!
15robertajobbFull MemberWith a really good cold snap this winter, the cutting of the winter fuel allowance, cash starved locoal councils not having any money to grit pavements, hopsitals with 243 hour waits at A+E, and all the immigrants who used to do the low paid caring jobs having left this xenophobic country, loads of the old white racist Daily Heil readers won’t make it through to any future elections.
4ernielynchFull MemberI will always remember Richard Littlejohn as a person who even Michael Winner could make look a ****.
7papamountainFree MemberThats nice alpin and robertajobb. You both seem like lovely people.
1ransosFree MemberI see my and a couple of other posts have been deleted. It seems we can’t say something about a particular journalist even when it’s a matter of public record.
MOD – Poster who posted the original comment asked for it to be removed due to inaccuracies. Subsequent posts referring back to that post were also deleted.

His Wikipedia page lists all his disgusting bullying and hounding of people using the clout of a daily newspaper* as protection.
He’s a disgusting bully who has made a very comfortable life for himself out of being a disgusting bully.
*I know, I know. But writing out ‘A3 toilet paper’ seemed unnecessary.
mudfishFull MemberWhat a strange world we live in. Divine and conquer seems to work as ever.
3fenderextenderFree MemberThats nice alpin and robertajobb. You both seem like lovely people.
For balance, there are pensioners who don’t read the Daily Hate who will also die this winter.
And there are plenty of non-pensioners who blame every minority they can identify for their own problems rather than looking in the mirror.
Better?
4submarinedFree MemberNot really, hoping people perish is, regardless of their views, thoroughly vile, and a pretty solid contravention of rule 1.
My wife’s grandmother is in her 90s, laps this sort of shit up, and is thoroughly bigoted. I still find the concept of hoping she doesn’t make it through the winter because of her objectionable entrenched views pretty **** disgusting.EdukatorFree MemberNice to know I’m not the only one who has endured conversations with the Daily mail by proxy.
2submarinedFree MemberYeah, you seen to have mistaken this thread for a completely different debate about end of life treatment.
4jamesoFull MemberLittlejohn’s an arse.
I like looking in phone box bookstores for a good read and I found one of his, all about how great England was when the schools didn’t have to accept the kids of foreigners and when you could leave your from door open and why have we gone downhill? Well it’s because of the foreigners really and what was the war all about if we were going to let them in. It was a first edition hardback in great condition, perhaps unread. So I left it outside round the back of the phone box for the rain and dogs to do their work.
5blokeuptheroadFull MemberPeople who express bigoted views in tabloids are dicks, no argument. People who wish for old people to die of cold this winter? Deeply unpleasant humans. I’ll pass your regards on to my 86 and 90 year old mum and dad. I’m dreading the inevitable so your vile post has really upset me this morning.

Regardless of the ethics of wishing someone with unpleasant views ill (I’m on the fence) sadly I fear we might have a bigotry conveyor belt installed in society. Like a game of whack-a-mole as soon as the last lot shuffle off through god’s waiting room, then next lot rev up their engines. Mr Littlejohn plays his part in that.
3EdukatorFree MemberWell as most off us are the next generation of potential Daily Mail diatribe readers we can do our bit and not buy the thing however bitter and disconnected from reality we get.
RustyNissanPrairieFull MemberI’ve said it before – I can’t believe in this day and age people pay money every day to have some else’s thoughts and beliefs imprinted in their psyche
1ernielynchFull MemberHe’s a disgusting bully who has made a very comfortable life for himself out of being a disgusting bully.
Totally agree. Littlejohn is a deeply unpleasant person who makes a comfortable living by specifically being a bigot.
The weird thing though is that this thread’s focus appears to on a fairly innocuous headline in Alpin’s original post. It simply suggests that Littlejohn believes that Trump will be good for America, something which approximately half of US voters agree with, and that he is much regrets that UK politicians don’t make him laugh.
Are we wishing that half of American voters will be dead by the next presidential election? I think I need to know.
2fenderextenderFree MemberYou will note that I was merely stating facts. I never expressed a wish one way or the other.
It just goes to show how emotive this stuff can be. And vexing. My mum (80) voted for Brexit, regularly tries to slip ‘immigrants’ into conversations as a catch-all group to blame etc. Obviously I don’t wish her ill in any way. It is crazy how her nostalgia for mid-1950s England has blotted out all of the negatives and been massaged into ‘immigrants are to blame for pretty much everything bad in the UK’.
FWIW, I think a lot of racist pensioners are likely to be this way simply because they’ve been exposed to Daily Hate style stuff for longer. Add in their unique experience of the pre-large-scale immigration UK and it is easy to see how decades of manipulation is effective.
My mum constantly goes on about wanting to ‘go back to the old ways’ in an agricultural sense. But doesn’t like it much when I point out that modern farming (with all its negatives) has underwritten a lifestyle that would be simply unaffordable without it. Of course that loops back round to ‘too many people, can’t support immigration’…
1PoopscoopFull MemberI dont like the Daily Mail to put it politely, it’s one of the outlets that has caused much harm to this country.
My old mum’s 95 this month, was never really into reading papers but historically when Dad was around it was invariably the Mirror that was bought. She’s always voted Labour as did dad.
Whilst I get that the older generation are more likely to have voted Brexit, Tory etc she isn’t one of them.
Generalisations are always flawed, though I do understand why oldies do get smeared with the far right brush, it is just a generalisation; no more.
As you were. 🙂

I don’t mind being realised by you ‘orrible lot though.
You’re all ok apart from the occasional new member that joins in the middle of the night and heads straight into the political and Covid threads! Lol
4joeyrFree MemberYears ago there was an internet fad for writing fake acrostic Amazon reviews for Littlejohn types.
My one was
Clearly one of the greatest authors of our, if not all time
Universally accepted as intellectually gifted
No-one else can express such complex right wing views in such a monosyllabic form
To buy only one copy of this book would be a crimeIt then got quoted in The Times as genuine.
1alpinFree MemberMay I just point out that I’m not calling for anyone’s demise, let alone my own father and that’s despite him being an 81 year old bigot.
My nephew not getting the attention he needs at school…. Too many immigrants at the school.
He blamed the recent budget when I pointed out to the waiter that I wanted the 20% Service Charge removed from the bill.
chrismacFull MemberThere is a good reason littlejohn lives in a gated community in Florida. Why he still gets paid to comment on the U.K. when he doesn’t live here is one of life’s many mysteries
1ernielynchFull MemberAnother great mystery is why is Littlejohn’s inane drivel behind a paywall when most of the Daily Mail isn’t? Who the **** wants to pay money to read that shite?

Perhaps it’s to put it beyond the interrogation of the comments section of all but the truest disciples, otherwise naughty scamps like you might have said something nasty about him there. It’s of no consequence, the bulk of his ‘fans’ will have tottered off to the **** shop to buy the physical paper.
ernielynchFull MemberWell bearing in mind the subject matter of Richard Littlejohn’s opinion piece in the OP, and the age related comments on here that followed, I found this particularly interesting:
Harris appears to have underperformed with 18- to 29-year-olds nationally; in contrast Trump is leading among them, capturing 47% of the vote, while Harris polls at 45%. Ironically, in our poll, she did best among those over 65 with a 58%-39% margin. Those age cohorts usually produce opposite results, with older voters tending to be more conservative.

It seems that politics isn’t quite as simple and predictable as we might imagine.
And this isn’t unique to the United States:
How far-right parties seduced young voters across Europe

Being peeved at Trump and the Daily Mail are totally rational position to take imo. <Thumbs up.>

Given the status of his employer, he fits in perfectly.

Given the status of his employer, he fits in perfectly. He probably gets regular invites to De Satanist’s parties. He’s certainly a perfect fit for living in a gated community. Probably got a seat on the Home Owner’s Association, he’s exactly the type who’d love to dictate to everyone else how to live their lives.
