I was traveling up a bridleway in Culver Cliff Woods yesterday evening ( the slippery bit where there is an old ruin) when a 70 year old long haired male with beard, tattoos, and a dog, gave me loads of invective about cycling in these woods. In his world bridleways were just for horses and pedestrians and dogs. I tried to put him straight on that but with limited success. He seemed to be saying bicycles were banned from these woods. I’ve been traveling this route a couple of times a year for the past 15-20 years and no sign I’ve seen has ever indicated that this is the case. He was pretty much asking for a fight but I argued the toss with him and we ended up being mates!!!
Was he talking bollocks or is there some sneaky bye law banning bicycles?
