Did a nasty steep rocky climb out of Rhiwderin that I don’t think I’ve completed before (Strava results not yet in), but failed to get all the way to the top of Machen Mountain. However, on the top I chatted to a top bloke who had a long and terribly convoluted story of how he missed his trip to the Alps. He then showed me one of the new lines they’ve made down the side of the mountain back into Machen, which was superb if a little much for me on my XC bike in places.

Good advert for e-bikes though, he was on one. Massive tyres and coil springs on it to maximise the DH fun – but a bike like that would be a right chore to winch back up 300m of ascent for another go.
