I think we all can agree (🤣) that Fox’s Jam and Cream are better than Jammy Dodgers in just about every aspect.

Are there other examples where the usurper is better than the original?

Even though not exactly the same, I’m tempted to say Ripple vs Cadbury Flake – better chocolate, and less crumbly. But I could murder either of them.

I think the placebo cover of 20th century boy was better than the original….. Not much in it though

I thought Cadburys’ Aztec bars were better than Mars bars. But they were only made for a brief period and discontinued in 1978.

    WRT beans….

Edeka (German supermarket). Own brand are much better than Heinz. Heinz just taste so sweet and artificial after Edeka’s.

    @ElShalimo
agreed. GF’s old MX5 was a hoot compared to my mates old MG (as in it worked and was reliable).

In this house, beanz don’t mean Heinz, Branson ones are way better. I’m assuming Heinz are the OG, but could be wrong.

    Dickie Davis

When I was a kid I always confused him with Des Lynam.

Image search reveals in this case, the original was better. Des looks rather unkempt.

I rather like Branston beans. I lived off Sainsbury’s own brand at uni in the 90s. Much better than Heinz which was always far too sweet

    I rather like Branston beans.

I did a side by side test last week on two slices of toast. Compared to Heinz, the Branston beans are denser and the sauce is thicker and stickier. Definitely better.

A spoonful of Marmite in your Heinz beans will improve them significantly.

Seeing the mention of Dickie Davies further up has remined me of one of my favorite anecdotes – listening to a radio phone in quiz one afternoon the contestant was asked to name a famous TV sports commentator. She was struggling to get an answer so the DJ said “I’ll give you a clue. Something you suck”. The answer he was looking for was Murray Walker. “Oh I know” she exclaimed, ” Dickie Davies”!!!

A spoonful of Marmite in a lot of things improves them. Chilli for example…

But the Elvis version was already a cover. Here’s the original:

And some old living room guitarist bloke making an acoustic attempt:

On topic, Marshall’s JTM 45 copy of the Fender Bassman.

Hoover were falling behind in the hoovering game ever since the offshoring Brexhypocrit started selling the dual cyclone bagless stuff, now they barely seem to get a mention when people are looking for a new hoover.

Oh dear, it’s turning into another I’ve-got-no-taste-in-music cover versions thread 😂

Lidl’s Twix copy, the cunningly named Mister Choc Caramel & Biscuit. So much tastier than the original, even after Lidl shrunk it.
