I heard a Cookoo this evening, when was the last time you heard one?

Few days ago, murdering *****

Yeah, why don’t they sod off back to Africa. Coming over here expecting others to provide a nest for them
and raise their fat-arsed youngsters.

I’ve heard two in the last week or two.

Every evening last week while staying down in Suffolkshire

Last heard one up at Fort William at the SSDT, 1st week in May. Heard one every day for 6 days, no matter where we went we heard one. (or it was the same one following us around)
Same as last year.

Up until this year, used to hear & see every day. This year, heard twice & not seen one.

Heard one in Hathersage just yesterday, first one in years.

Thursday evening. It was awesome.

Tuesday evening in Delamere. Nice sound, nasty birds 🙁

No nastier than all those other birds that murder insects and grubs, or catch mice and voles.

Yesterday. Still never actually seen one, but one last night must’ve been close.

What do they sound like?

Torridon a few weeks back was heaving with them. Never thought of them as a mountain dweller. They look like a small raptor in flight and sound like a baby Ocelot being squeeezed

Yesterday at Buttermere

There’s a bird’s nest in the bush outside Lil Grips’s nursery gate. It contains one chick the size of a thrush, and looking similar, and is being tended to by a sparrow smaller than the chick. My wife thought it was a case of illegal immigrants, I think she’s right.

Last Saturday 8th June, while riding over Cut Gate in the Peak District.
We got woken up by one 2 weeks ago in Cartmel Cumbria, t’was very loud.
