I’ve searched already but am getting more confused by the day with spacers, chainring bolts etc etc. Could someone do an idiots guide for me please?

I have a Cotic Soul Frame arriving soon and would like to use my Shimano XT cranks. They are M785 2×10 specific ones but I would like to go 1×10.

I guess I remove the granny, rather than the outer ring but do i need to modify anything else? Use spacers, cut of lugs, use longer bolts?

    Many thanks for any input.

Use a ring where the outer one currently is. You may want to go to a single ring specific ring – have a look at Hope.

    No spacers or anything required.

Are you planning a chain device of some sort too? I just converted an M785 triple to 1×10 with an MRP G2 mini… slightly different in that for me it’s the middle ring being replaced but it got a bit complicated with bolt lengths and stuff (needed shorter lugs).

Was thinking of putting one of those Bionicons on there.

You should be alright then I guess, so long as it keeps the thing on well enough.
