  • Converting a 135 X 12 DT swiss hub to 142×12

I managed to get a cheap rear wheel with a DT Swiss 350 hub. I thought it was a 142×12 hub but it appears to be a 135×12 one instead. I have seen that you can get end caps to convert to the 142 width. Is that all I need to get to convert it? I swap the end caps and fit the wheel? Will there be any messing about with spacing out disc rotors etc ( like the hope boost conversation kits and the like)?

The internet is not being super helpful in providing answers to my questions!

The spacing of 142×12 is 135mm, there are just pockets in the frame that take the axle ends (135×12 floats in space). So no mucking around spacing the disc like a boost conversion. I think you’ll just need end caps. Have a look on the dtswiss site. There is a very helpful page listing all the combinations and the part numbers.

wasn’t it specialised who had a weird narrower through-axle rear hub on the old Crux ?
If you’ve measured it as 135, maybe you have a hub specced for one of those ??

Literally just surprisingly expensive end caps. The rotor spacing etc is all identical on 135 and 142 hubs, it’s only ****ing stupid boost that ****ed it up, the ****.

You could genuinely do it with a couple of washers, but that’d be an incredible pain
