my cd/dvd writer started returning a fault code of 39. replaced it with a new one (thinking writer had gone capput) and still getting same fault code, am I right in thinking the mother board has had it ? and if so where’s a good place to buy a case with mother board to stick all my gubbins in.

    thanks

A few more details would help.

I don’t think I know much more than is now listed below, thanks
All the lights flash and the drive (Samsung) does sound as if it’s rotating, but the disc just stops and the fault code pops up, also the drive is not listed when I try to “explore” the desktop although it does show in device manager with a yellow warning triangle, computer says it running the latest driver for the drive.
Running Vista and the computer is a Dell

I would go to the Samsung website and download the latest driver. It would not be unusual for Windows to wrongly report it has the latest driver.
