Looks like I have to spend most of July in the States for a customer in New York and then August for another in Mumbai. I loathe commuting in big cities on public transport & would much rather be zooming though the streets on a hack bike.

Has anyone ridden in either of these two places? I imagine NY is a bit like London with slightly different rules. If Mumbai’s anything like the rest of India, then I might be better off walking.

I have lived in both cities.

New York as you say is a like London, but actually easier. No roundabouts and since the traffic is mostly stationery you just have to look out for pedestrians not looking where they are going and traffic at intersections (crossroads). I actually found commuting in NY great fun.

The first rule of cycling in Mumbai is to not even think about cycling in Mumbai.

The second rule is to stop thinking about cycling in Mumbai.

You’re thinking about it now. Aren’t you?

    Stop it!
