Up to 45 miles each way. More commonly 10 miles or 23 miles depending on office. 3-4 days a week.

Maybe I should have explained a bit better, see the home page.

11 miles each way. Almost entirely traffic-free too. It’s grim up north.

Maybe I should have explained a bit better, see the home page.

Ahh right – the poll? I assumed it meant one way.

I think this proves how some people just don’t bother reading other’s posts.

Strictly 9.7 miles (all in) but I can stretch it out to 30+ miles.
Means whilst its raining and freezing I can make it in 20 minutes as long as I miss the train barriers, but when it gets light I can stretch it out nicely.

Oh, crap question for the poll,

See this just proves how few people bother reading the other posts.

I assumed it was each way but badly worded.

17 miles, shift work 7 days on 3 off. Cold riding in tonight at 10pm, gonna be even chillier tomorrow riding home at 7am. Nice riding by moonlight lights-off on the rural sections.

Being currently of the European persuasion, I only ride kilometers.

I didn’t see the poll, but assume it’s each way.

Since we moved offices it can be as little as 3.5 miles each way but only 400 meters is on road and I can make it any length I want as there are loads of options and diversions I can take none of which mean using the roads.

Those of you that partake in the longer commutes how are you finding it? I’m asking as we’re looking to move out from the city and I’m planning on riding in maybe 3 times a week, looks like it’ll be about 20 miles each way, I’d say I’m in pretty good shape but not having done that kind of mileage consistently I’m worried it will be pretty hard work initially, any thoughts?

I think your worry is justified. It will be hard work initially 😀

When I stepped up from 11 miles each way twice a week to doing it every day I though my legs were going to fall off, but after a couple of months it was fine.

Just keep at it. Get into a routine. Don’t ride flat out. Don’t be ashamed to take a day off – especially if you’re streaming with the cold. Eat sensibly.

28 miles each way. Once or twice a week in summer.
