I’m going to be in the Machynlleth area for my annual long weekend with my wife’s family. The Cli-machX trail is my usual bolt hole to get away from them for an hour. Looking at the website it seems the final descent is closed at the moment. Is that true? Didn’t I read they had to call of the logging which had closed it due to some rare flora or fauna they discovered?

If it is closed, is the trail still worth doing with the diversion?

Final descent is still closed, riding the diversion makes the ride shorter but interesting as part of it is ridden in reverse. You could always explore some of the less known parts of the area too……

Yep, exploring off piste is the obvious choice but the combination of trying to squeeze rides in to relatively short time slots and that I’ll be riding on my own means I’d prefer to stick to waymarked trails.

    Cheers for the info.
