Presumably, you didn’t watch the entire clip.

    So your point is?

    It’s not mine, it’s James Baldwin’s.

So what’s James Baldwin’s point then?

    Do you agree with him?

he can say whatever he likes as far as i’m concerned, after all we live in a country where freedom of speech is valued. If we all spoke the way guardians of our society wanted us to we’d never know you the idiots were.

He was talking about folk from Nigg, right?

Watched the clip – he pretty clearly says it – not that I needed any further evidence of what a bell-end he is.

erm… it wasn’t actually used in the show was it?

Anyway, I’m a child of the 50s and 60s and when I grew up the poem was “catch a **** by the toe”. I’ll probably now go to hell for typing out the word in full. It meant nothing to us. The only black faces we were familiar with were coal miners on their way home.

Probably not a rhyme for the 21st century though.

No probs with it for the 20th though.

I dare say at some point in the future it will be frowned upon to label all scousers as car thieves or Yorkshiremen as tight fisted.

He’s **** hilarious – but probably not if you worship at the Church of Clarkson, May and Hammond (he’s not even a real hamster, y’know?); also know as The Church of Latter Day ****.

    I don’t believe him.

It does have the ring of a story that might be told at A&E “I was making some salad, naked, and while carrying the cucumber from the fridge I slipped on a lettuce leaf….”

…fell into the under stairs cupboard, ended up up with my cock in the hoover and three cucumbers up my arse.

    Ah so he has apologised
I actually used the word I was trying to avoid using

I did everything in my power to not use that word …..and still he failed …poor lamb

So he is either a racist and a liar or a really shit presenter…….Its going to be tough working out which of these is true

Yeah, but occasionally he’s a hilarious dick. Sometimes, unintentionally. Which makes it even funnier…

    Nope.

Is Stuart Lee supposed to be funny?

    Yup.

It’s political correctness gone mad, l tell you

You can even scrawl racial abuse, in crap, on someone’s car anymore 🙄

I’d love Stewart Lee to do STW

Now. I am not a fan of Mr Clarkson, but I do find some bits of Top Gear entertaining, as well as his appearance on HIGNFY.

However, I also like Stewart Lee and have seen him live several times.

Can someone tell me what I should be feeling, please.

You should recognise that Clarkson does what he does and says what he says because it is all part of a highly lucrative act.

I hate Clarkson but not because he is unpc, I’m fairly unpc myself, I hate him cause he’s a ****.

I like Stewart Lee. And agree with all his comments concerning Clarkson’s offensive bigotry.

You should recognise Stewart Lee isn’t funny and that Jeremy Clarkson upsets a few people on here and they love to mention it whenever they can.

    RustySpanner

    It’s not an act.
His genius is convincing those he genuinely despises that it is.

Drac, yes, I do mention it frequently.
Less frequently than some mention they despise football, but frequently nontheless.

But then again, he does keep doing very dubious things, which people like to start threads about.

If he stops being an offensive, dangerous, small minded idiot, I’ll stop calling him one.
I’m sure, like some of our fellow posters, he revels in his notoriety.

    It’s Clarkson. Accept or ignore…

I’m not sure Lee has hit the heights of his Top Gear sketch that often, but he is excellent. It’s a sophisticated humour – full of nuance where you’re laughing hysterically at the object of his scorn and then he turns it on you. I suppose it goes over some folks’ heads. And for them, there’s always Clarkson’s brand of humour.

Worse than that it’s Daily Mail Vs Clarkson.

I suppose it goes over some folks’ heads.

Or they don’t find him funny.

If Clarkson annoys so many on here, he gets my vote.

    deadlydarcy

Or they don’t find him funny.

Indeed. It would be boring if we all laughed at the same things. So they can go for something simpler, like Clarkson, Lee Mack or Michael McIntyre. There’s something for everyone these days.

    kimbers

is it the end for him though?

hes made an about face and done a impressively grovelling apology

similar comments from other dinosaurs like ron atkinson, andy gray etc have sounded the death knell of their careers

I suspect the money top gear makes for the bbc will keep him safe for a while longer
