I bought a set of Yari’s and am going to upgrade to the charger damper, the info on Rockshox Trailhead only shows the RCT3 damper as an upgrade. I assume this means I can’t fit the RC2 for some reason?

TBF I can get the RCT3 at much better price so I don’t mind if I can’t fit the RC2 as I’ll never know the difference….

Also are the dampers wheel size specific or do they either size fork?

Rockshox have recently updated the Trailhead app I think. Still lists both RC2 and RCT3 damper options for my particular Yari RC B3 variant. I’ve got the 2.1 RCT3 in mine. Appears to show it’ll fit different wheel sizes forks but unsure if I’m reading that correctly.

You can fit either., at least to the original Yari. I got an RC2 at a good price last year and it’s great, night and day improvement over the original, constipated Yari MoCo damper. The advantage of the RC2 is that you can fine-tune high and low speed compression, which is nice, but either would be a good upgrade tbh. Not sure what you mean by ‘either size fork’?

Maybe talk to the guys at TFT if you’re not sure what you need?

My forks are the B2 and for 29″ wheels, but the description doesn’t mention 29 or 27.5″ forks. I assume that means the damper fits in either a 29″ or 27.5″ fork.

I might just go for the RCT3 as I can get it £168 at the moment, whereas the RC2 is well over £200.

RCT3 is night and day better than MoCo. After years of using the RCT3 in my Yaris I had a ride on a new set of standard Yaris… immediately fitted another RCT3 into them.

    @ads678 where is the rct3 £168?

Bikeinn. £5 delivery. Won’t get import tax and stuff as they have a UK distribution centre.

The damper doesn’t care what position its in so isn’t wheel size specific

The rct3 is too overdamped but for that money it’s not the end of the world .

The mc gets a lot of grief but it really isn’t that bad and if your skill set requires it it’s easy enough to improve at home with basic tools for  the 2 or 3 occasions a year you ride places fast and gnarly enough you feel the mc,s limits.

All too easy to get sucked in by the media/ vloggers /so called influencers

Personally I’d of opted for the novy parts splug if you really couldn’t live with having a mc damper .

Where you getting the yari from ?

Bought a really nice set second hand a couple of weeks ago.

    The rct3 is too overdamped

I don’t really know what this means so I don’t reckon I don’t thnk I’ll be able to tell! TBH I’d probably think the moco damper was fine anyway, but I wanted some beffier longer travek forks and was going to buy some Lyrik Ultimates, this way I’ve got some cheaper than anywhere else I could find at the moment!!…..

I’d have a look at the Novyparts Splug also – mine was about £120 delivered and is far better than the MC damper.

But £168 for the RCT3 seems like a bargain

Already bought the charger rct3 now.

If i’d known about the splug before I’d probably have gone for it. It  does look nice with the gold bits!

Mine didn’t come with the gold bits! It had a black dial instead. Was a little gutted as it would have subtly matched my cane creek shock.

RCT3 will be night and day better than the MC.
