    Hoping someone can help.

Tantalising close to having my bike finished and have hit a snag.

I have Shimano SLX M7000 cranks and a Surly 3/32 SS Cog at the back. Was advised that a KMC Z610HX 3/32 would work however it doesn’t. Perfect wrap on the cog but only partial wrap on the chain ring.

What do I need? Different chain obviously or am I not going to get these two to place nice and need a different chain ring?

    Cheers in advance.

A one eights singlespeed chain will work.

Surprised the 3/32 doesnt because if they are both 3/32 cog and chainring a 3/32 will work.

Do they wrap okay off the bike?

    What chainring?

Standard slx m7000 ring. Both seem fine in isolation but not together.

Chain line maybe an issue. Put away for now. Might be having a stupid moment so stepped away!

Scratch that actually I’ve just looked the chain won’t wrap the m7000 chain ring completely.

I’ll get a picture later. Annoying. It’s all I needed to be able to ride again 😥

Ok then I got sorted today to a fashion but what a pain.

Went to Local Evans and they tried several chains. 1-1/8 kmc was a no go. Would wrap the sprocket but not the ring. Tried some random stretched thing out of the bin wrapped both but they were unsure what it was unfortunately. Then tried a 1-1/8 Miche track chain which wrapped both. Result. Sort of.

The shop were quite surprised tbh and not sure what’s going on. Anyway some pictures…and sorry for the links. Flickr never plays nice on the iPad.

The 3/32 kmc chain…you can see the lack of wrap as the teeth hit the pins…

    Now the 1-1/8 Miche…wraps fine, but…

    The but part.

The shortest I could make the chain is as the following picture. Is this a poor axle point? It’s not giving much room for stretch. Chain is tight and wont fall off however if I’d done the next available link it’s too short. Advice greatly appreciated and if anyone has any clue on the 3/32 or geared chain issue please let me know.
