    Anyone got any thoughts on chains, ie which one, how much to pay and so on…

    A chain has to have a powerlink IMO, currently use SRAM PC991 chains, about £25 – £30, and last quite a while.
    Also heard very good things about the KMC X9 SL which are about £50 but they are meant to last a long time so probably worth the extra £££…

    yes powerlinks make it much easier, and I have heard KMC’s are a stubborn to say the least when it comes to splitting.

    I use cheapo ones. Deore HG53. Have seen no difference with the SRAM 991s I used to use except for the cosmetic. They are about a tenner and I buy power links separately.

    I’m starting to form the opinion that Chains are chains, and not much to choose between. Suppose it depends on how much you can justify spending
