Nick Moran the gangster turned up for training on night at the rugby club I played for. Some sort of preparation for a film apparently. He was very quiet, and he's tiny, but he got stuck in. Never came back though.

Going back a few years saw Zoe Ball when out clubbing, my mate also tried the "where have I seen you before, is it in our local?", and another time clubbing saw Mick Hucknall who had a minder escort him to the toilet

Peter Kay at Knock Airport in Ireland, he did a group photo with us then asked for some privacy for his family and sat round the corner out of sight.

Met absolutely loads of rock stars over the many years of concerts, but only to autograph tickets / programs.
However the most natural highest high ever, was meeting & chatting to Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson & Neil Peart on the 14.5.83 At the N.E.C. hotel.
    Will NEVER forget that day.

Just remembered – met Matt Dawson at Home nightclub. I was a little inebriated and told him he was one of my favourite players (true) and described how he'd KOed an Italian player in the match earlier that day 😳 He took it well, seemed like a good geezer.

    Oh, talking of queue jumping,

Few years ago now, got gazumped on a ride at Alton Towers by some used-to-be-more-famous blonde channel 4 presenter who's name escapes me for the minute, and her black footballer boyfriend. Stopped the ride and made everyone in the queue wait whilst they had a couple of goes with the entire train to themselves.

Argh, what the hell's she called… Give me a minute, it'll come to me.

When I was living in Soho Eva Herzigova stopped me on Broadwick Street and asked if I had the time. A stunning woman.

Walked past Sir Ben Kingsley on West Cromwell Road. He smiled and nodded at me.

I bumped into Graeme Le Saux on Gloucester Road in Kensington and wished him well in the Euro's (1996). He looked at me as if I was something that had just fallen out of his nose. I think he thought I was taking the pi55 as he had sustained an injury or something in the run up that I was unaware of at the time. I wrote him off as a bit of an ass-hat.

Just met Gok Wan filming an ad for Vodaphone right outside my building about 10 mins ago. Nice chap. Not as tall as I was expecting. Got his autograph, does that make me a looser(edit: loser)?

When I was 21 (an earlier lifetime), working for TWA at the Los Angeles airport, on a night shift at the lost baggage office, Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor came in about 10PM to report their luggage didn't arrive with their flight. Took the report and checked with originating station in NY and found their luggage was on a following flight due in about 30 minutes. They decided to wait there in the office, so got to talk with them. She was probably 30-ish and STUNNING–eyes to die for. He had obviously had more than a couple of martinis, but was very engaging and funny. Got the impression he wasn't a guy one would want to cross.
Another time had to take a last minute business trip from LAX to NY and the only seat my company could get was in first class and I got to sit next to the country/bluegrass singer Emmylou Harris. Really nice conversation over the entire flight and she too was very easy on the eye.

Met Peter Beardsley at the Ice Hockey in Newcastle and he was proper sound, Also met Lee Sharp in a bar in Leeds when out with a load of girls from work they all cooed and purred and posed then rushed off to the toilet together, leaving me and a slightly shocked Lee Sharp stood in an empty bar. Hats off to the guy, he bought me a pint and preceded to have a really normal conversation, before all the girls came back from the toilet.

Met loads of musicians through the club I used to work in, some pleasant some complete tools.

Jimmy Saville always says hello too!

Most interesting was David Hemmings who was a wonderful raconteur with fantastic stories about the sixties, Ollie reed etc. If only I could remember them but I never managed to extricate myself from his company unpissed 😳 James Hunt was a nice bloke, Alex Higgins wasn't, Harry Hill top man. Most of the 'golf charity celebs' Ronnie Corbett etc.were good blokes.

Used to see Mickey Finn, Paul King and Charlie Drake regularly when I lived in Crystal Palace and my Dad was mates with Dennis Law and my Mum with Aneka (Japanese Boy No 1) 😆

Met many 'rock stars' over the years

Biggest probably Jon Bon Jovi – twice – he is quite short

Personal Favourite – Eric Martin (if you know who he is)- such a lovely guy and can't do enough for fans

Died and gone to heaven moment – Gabrielle Kerner – Nena of 99 red ballons fame – to an 18 year me clearly the most beautiful woman in the world

And though nobody ever believes me I have snogged Susanna Hoffs – still a stunner a 51

I won't class the pro cyclists that I know as 'celebrities' as most people on the street won't know who they are apart from maybe Sir Chris H.

Lots of Chris Evans on here, thoroughly nice bloke I thought, he came to the velodrome with his radio show earlier this year:

    watch the vid here

Him and the other guy were a great laugh, and Mr Evans' driver was an interesting chap, used to drive Jon Bon Jovi around till he got bored of the late nights.

Bastard! I've stood three feet from Emmylou at a concert in the Jazz Café, and she is just beautiful, and her voice breaks my heart and I hate you.
Ok, leaving out getting things signed after gigs and book signings, where the intention is to meet a specific person, I've seen Timothy West and his missus in Bath, near where their narrowboat was moored up and got a nod and a smile, seen Melinda Messenger outside of WHSmith in Bath, she's really tiny. Sitting in a pasta restaurant in London and a lady walks past on her way downstairs and I realise it's Petula Clarke, who nods and gives me a lovely smile. Out for a meal in a restaurant with friends celebrating a birthday and we're all yakking about music and bands and realise that Van Morrison and his missus are sat at the next table down. Catch his eye at one point while raising a glass and get a nod and raised glass. Out at the Vail Worlds in '94 and get talking to Jason McRoy, lovely, lovely bloke, and later meet Missy Giove, who signed my Cannondale SuperVee 3000 with a paint pen. (Still got it). April last year I had some time off and went up on Cherhill White Horse to take some photos and saw this couple walking from the far side of the hill, and as they came down towards me said hello, beautiful afternoon, how's things? Like you do to Robbie Williams and his now wife. Fit bird, too.

I was once Beryl Burton's "minuteman" in a 25 mile TT. She had a nice chat before the start. I didn't catch her though.

She was my baby sitter at Herne Hill, while my mother was on the track. 🙂

Molly Swan, former chair of the WCRA, once left the baby at Herne Hill 😆

I shoulderbarged Prince William squarely in the sternum coming out of Morrisons in St Andrews. I wasn't looking where I was going cos there was a Citroen rally car parked outside for some reason. He can take a hit, and thankfully waved off the crack MI5 death squad that were training their sights on my forehead. Probably.

Also told Christopher Daniels to f*** off at the Leicester Square premier of Star Wars Episode 1. We thought he was just some arse trying to muscle his way to the front of the queue. In my defense, I didn't recognise him without the gold droid outfit.

I met Bjork a long time ago on a train with her then baby. Had to help her carry everything off the train and up to the station platform at Sheffield. I was coy and decided to pretend I didn't recognize her even though I was going to see her play live that very same evening.

Regularly see Max Clifford at a coffee shop in Weybridge at the weekends. Seems like nice bloke, but can't park his Bentley and now new Rolls for sh1t. Always gets his young wife to park it – she is a good looking woman.

Got a bit frustrated with Nigel Kennedy when boarding a plane into the First Class cabin. Couldn't quite understand why this "scruff" was (a) taking so long to get to his seat and (b) why is was in First Class anyway. Then I saw it was his violins that were holding things up and it all started to make sense.

Also once travelled to NY on the same flight as Benjamin Netanyahu. Quite pleased to discover that at the end of my flight rather than the beginning mind you

I once literally bumped into Kevin Spacey (both walking round the same corner from opposite directions), he used to wear a baseball cap pulled down quite low to avoid being recognised. He was pleasant enough when he was recognised though.

Cycling related – I know pretty much all the various GB track squads, a lot of the roadies and various staff (Dave Brailsford, Chris Boardman etc).

Oh and I was on Blue Peter when I was about 8 so got to meet Yvette Fielding, Karen Keating and Mark Currie!

Roger Lloyd Pack, turned up to a gig I was doing in manchester, paid the entrance like everyone else and got stuck into the beer and dancing. No, he wasn't wearing his blue suit…

John Noakes – met him at a book reading by Jim Perrin following the publication of his book on Don Whillans called 'The Villain'.

I got all dewey eyed and nostalgic for someone who in childhood you'd thought was a bit square and boring (Go With Noakes was never cool until after you'd grown up and realised how much you loved the outdoors) but who in adulthood had become a legend.

Jim Davidson: Very unpleasant. This might be because he got me bared from a Bristol for taking the piss out of him when he objected to me not finding him funny.

Craig Charles: Genuinely pleasant. This might be because we got extremely drunk together one night in Lyme regis and happily took the piss out of each other all night.

Michelle Ryan: Quiet and shy, though bloody stunning and courteous, her dad a gent. This might be because he bought me a pint for telling the gawping fans to sod off and leave them to their family meal. I hadn't a clue who she was at the time, just noticed they were not enjoying the attention.

Sean Connery in the back of his cab once. Apparently he was one of the rudest people he'd ever had in his cab, which disappointed me somewhat.

I know his brother well and he's completely different to that. Top bloke
    Anyway:

Billy Connolly – hilarious in real life, truly funny guy.
    Sean Penn – moody
Emma Thompson – we got a photo with her worshiping a plastic owl with a fez and moustache, so she's clearly alright / mental.
Denise van Outen – hot!! I was only about 16 but she did a tv show from the resort I was staying in then went out drinking with us later. Good fun in the pub.

Richard Hammond. He just pulled up in a car park and appeared from a filming van.I was unlocking my commuter and he looked over at me with my bike. I politely nodded and rode off. At the time i was a student and hadn't watched top gear for a few years. I thought that guy seems familiar, and it wasn't until i started watching top gear again later i realised who it was.Doh..
He seemed really friendly and decent.

Also Shane Richie – he was in a carpet shop and kept himself to himself although he joshed with the staff.he was just like his character on eastenders.

Bez – He performed at a local gig i cycled too.I was coming out if the changing room, after a t shirt change and he came out of the backstage area before the gig. Bez looked very happy 😆
