The cat that we had when I was growing up had urinary tract issues. He had to take pills (fun!) and had to be on a certain type of food. Once in a while, he’d still have a problem, but he lived a long life. I think he was about 17 when kidney failure meant he had to be euthanized, so yours may have many years ahead of him.
