Love this – the Sherwood was designed by a guy I used to work with.

I’d love to see the run out of the film when a wee scally comes over a spraypaints a spurting cock on it.

Sometimes I wonder what has happened to the human race when bins have to be designed to take that sort of abuse.

Its a bin FFS, it is there to collect our rubbish so the areas we hang around in don’t look a mess. What is the thought process of sitting in a park and thinking “I know, I’ll smash that bin to pieces for no good reason”. Then the park I am enjoying sitting in will be full of litter and my (parents) council tax can buy another one rather than doing something that may benefit the my community.

A while ago, one of the dog shit bins was smashed and the contents scattered round my way. Human race indeed.

    Here’s another good test

Exactly. Hammers and baseball bats are used for fighting, cheap disposable lighters are used for casual vandalism.

All well and good but how well do these things fair under sustained attack when they’ve spent a couple of years outside lots of UV exposure and sat at -10/+40*C, and been clipped a couple of times by transit vans, they’ll crack a bit easier after some actual use…

Don’t forget it’s fireworks season now too, you could pack a small arsenal in one of those Gravel bins…

The trouble with getting adults to test these things is they’re just never as creative with their ideas on vandalism as a 14 year old who’s just nicked £20 from his Mum’s purse…

    I wondered that.

Wonder what the tax man says when he reads through glasdon’s expenses, “200 baseball bats for ‘testing’ a likely story, own up, you’ve got a softball team haven’t you?”

On those tests. I’m confused, WTF. What are they proving- its not scientific and the net result can easily be an injured member of staff, especially bouncing a baseball bat fast and hard enthusiastically off a plastic (or bouncing surface) with no face or head protection.

It’s how we do product testing in this country. A few years ago I wrote a book on explosives manufacturing, and got lots of test info from various companies and organisations.

German and US companies and government test labs were very scientific – to test detonators, they’d have carefully calibrated ballistic cannons, pendulums, things like that. The British company had – and I’m not making this up – a big bloke with a hammer and anvil.

Kidding. Saying that wasn’t an MOD bloke killed a few years ago during a botched explosives test simulating terrorists explosives? It was literally blokes in white coats with a table in the outdoors doing tv-style tests?

Well, you wouldn’t want to do that kind of thing indoors.

Alfred Nobel thought it was very funny to play a trick on dinner guests – he’d take a stick of dynamite out of his pocket, light it from a candle on the table, and use it to light his cigar.

It cleared the room quite quickly 😀

theyre based and made in Blackpool nuff said!!!! hahahhah

i worked there for a bit making the character bons for well known fast food chains was a great job to be honest. the testing shows a typical week in a blackpool park : ) but seriously the companies glasdon supply too have budgets and they want the strongest most durable products. either pay for glasdon gear and it last 20 years or buy 20 cheap ones out of your tax paying money(local authorities biggest customers) ??? the testing a extreme way of showing quality of their products and its a novel advertising scheme too. youl remember who makes em now due to the funny vids!!!!

and ive sin many a glasdon bin alight on the way home from a night out still there in the morning just a quick scrub or repaint lol

What the hell are those benches made from?

The bin still didn’t pass the fire test, it put the fire out. Any determined vandal would light a fire around it as well.
