I’ve got some Castelli Roubaix tights, that I love, but want some knickers (3/4 length) for the spring. Looking at the Nanoflex and the water repellent coating looks useful. What I’m wanting to know is, does the fabrics warmth/weight sit nicely between summer shorts and Roubaix tights, or am I just going to end up with 3/4 length Roubaix’s? (which isn’t really what I’m after!)

Any experiences appreciated,

I’ve got some of the bib shorts – they’re ok for what they’re intended for, coolish, damp days. The graphics fell off the first time I wore them though.
They did me fine for GF Prosecco in September where we started riding at 7am in heavy rain, and carried on until about 12 when it stopped, and teamed with nanoflex leg warmers and endura overshoes.

My experience with the Sportful NoRain material, (parent company of Castelli), is that it does not need to be a heavy weight material for the impregnation to work.

My arm and leg warmers have NoRain and are very light weight.

Having said that the published weights of the tights seem in keeping with winter weights.

Hmmmm…… you’re right Chef the weights are winter-like although the Castelli site has them nicely placed between winter and summer…. It’s these or dhb Aeron Race Knickers. There’s only £20 in it and I really like my other Castelli gear so might take a punt and return if not…..the joys of Collect+!!!

The day you describe aP is the sort of thing I want them to cater for. I should be able to make a good guess of their warmth on inspection.

They’re very very good warm enough for full winter but can go up to about 9C as arm/leg warmers.

Really like my full bib tights, not really for freezing weather though, but very good in the wet
